enrolment @ apollo

Starting school is part of a child's long term progression from dependence to independence. You have been preparing your child for school in many ways. What your child learns at school will build on the skills and knowledge you have already helped your child to learn. We hope our information and Prep Orientation Program will assist you and your child make a smooth and happy transition to school life at Apollo Parkways Primary School.

Is my child ready for school?

Children enjoy starting school if they are already showing confidence in some basic aspects of their physical, emotional, social and intellectual development. At school your child will build on skills and knowledge you have helped develop. Your child's preschool teacher will be able to assist when making decisions about school readiness.

When should my child start school?

To enrol in a Victorian government school, children must be at least five years of age by the 30th of April in the year they start school.

Orientation

Apollo Parkways Primary School conducts an extensive Prep Orientation Program. This is an opportunity for you and your child to get to know their new school. You will get to meet the teachers and find out about the exciting things that happen at school. Our time line of events is detailed below.

November - Small Group Sessions

Children are timetabled to visit our school for three sessions. They will spend two sessions in Prep classrooms and on the third visit they will experience specialist classes.

February - School Commences
Prep children begin school a day later than other students. Starting times are staggered on this first day to help children settle into the classroom.

PLEASE NOTE: During February, Prep children will attend 4 days per week - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9.00a.m. - 3.30p.m.   Wednesday's will be set aside for assessments.  Parents will be notified of their child's assessment time.  All children undertake School Entry Assessment to provide teachers with information regarding children's learning.
