Term 4 2016

On Wednesday October 5th the Grade 2 children had a fantastic day at Werribee Zoo. We went on a safari tour and learnt about lots of animals in the Discovery Centre. But wait there's more...after Werribee we headed to Williamstown to have a chip and potato cake dinner, followed by a drink and fruit. We had a great time on the beach playing games and building sand castles. We got back to school at 7pm. It was such a fabulous day and we had so much fun!

Term 3 2016

Wow! What an exciting term 3. We have thoroughly enjoyed exploring, ‘How and why stories are told.’

We have loved reading Roald Dahl books throughout the term. We read lots of his books and we even read his biography. A highlight of the term was the Roald Dahl performance where we created our own characters and performed a play. We also celebrated Roald Dahl’s birthday on September 12th by dressing up as a character from the many Roald Dahl books we have read throughout this term.

We sure have had a scrumdiddlyumptious term!

Term 2 2016

Term 2 saw us investigating ‘Science’. We became experts on force and motion, learning about gravity, friction, momentum and other forces. We looked at simple machines and how they worked and created our own amazing moving toy. Highlights were our excursion to Scienceworks and our visit from Professor Bunsen.

Term 1 2016

We commenced the year investigating ‘What can we do to learn together?’ as the focus of our Linking to Thinking Unit. The children enthusiastically participated in partner and group activities to ‘get to know’ their new classmates and create stimulating classroom learning environments for 2016.

Our Inquiry for term 1 was, ‘What Is Our Cultural Background?’ The children took part in 2 exciting workshops. The first was an Indian Bollywood Dance lesson and following session focused on the Chinese New Year Dragon.

Our Grandparents’ Afternoon was ‘Simply The Best!’ Being able to experience the warmth and enthusiasm as the children and their Grandparents shared the afternoon together was perhaps the highlight of term 1. The children were fascinated to learn about ‘daily school life’ when their Grandparents went to school, as they compared and contrasted the many shared stories.
