All students in Prep - Grade 2 visit the library each week with their classroom teacher. Students in Grades 3 - 6 visit each fortnight. This 50 minute session involves the development of skills needed to locate books and resources for both information and pleasure as well as exposure to a variety of literature and authors. There is provision within this library session for borrowing. This encourages students to make reading a regular part of their life.
Term 3 2019
In term three we take time to celebrate the books chosen by the Children’s Book Council of Australia for their annual Book of the Year Awards. Established in 1945 the Children’s Book Council of Australia work to promote the importance of reading for children and to showcase the work of Australian authors and illustrators.
Before the winners are announced in late August we will be sharing stories from their shortlist of books by authors such as Stephen Michael King, Alison Lester, Margaret Wild, Elise Hurst, Shaun Tan and many others.
We will also take time to celebrate all the special men in our lives as Father's Day draws near and the excitement of footy season as Grand Finals time gets closer.
Here’s to a great term of reading!
