All students in Prep - Grade 2 visit the library each week with their classroom teacher. Students in Grades 3 - 6 visit each fortnight. This 50 minute session involves the development of skills needed to locate books and resources for both information and pleasure as well as exposure to a variety of literature and authors. There is provision within this library session for borrowing. This encourages students to make reading a regular part of their life.
Term 2 2018
Term 2 in our Apollo library is going to be packed full of great books and lots of new things to learn as we discover a world of facts with a focus on our non-fiction skills.
Our Grade 1’s will be reading books about Australian animals. Grade 2 will be discovering the science of movement. Grade 3 will be learning about how plants and animals grow and change while our Grade 4’s will be travelling back in time as they explore the history of early Australia.
Our Preps will be giggling along with books by author and illustrator Charles Fuge while our Grade 5 and 6 students will be taking time to read and share stories with their buddies as well as borrow great new books to extend their own reading with the introduction of ebooks to enhance our already amazing library collection.
On top of all that Term 2 brings with it books to focus on ANZAC Day and Mother’s Day. The Premier’s Reading Challenge will be up and running. There is the arrival of our annual Scholastic Book Fair, the chance to share a school wide story for National Simultaneous Storytime and an exciting Bookmark Competition to celebrate the Art of Picture Story books during Education Week’s celebration of the Arts.
It’s going to be busy, so let’s get reading.
