Visual Arts

The Visual Arts program offers students opportunities to be creative through a range of mediums including the exploration of different media and the development of techniques and processes.

Wakakirri

‘The Aboriginal word Wakakirri means ‘to dance a story’. Each year hundreds of schools across Australia create and perform Story-Dances for Wakakirri that reflect students’ thoughts, ideas and aspirations. A Wakakirri Story-Dance is a 3-7 minute performance by a group of students that theatrically tells a story using a combination of dancing, creative movement and acting to pre-recorded music. Performing in Wakakirri Live is an experience students never forget. Schools spend Show Day rehearsing and meeting other schools and that same night walk the Red Carpet with the Panel Reps and perform on the big stage. Every schools’ story is filmed for Wakakirri TV as part of the search for ‘Story of the Year’.’

School Band & Choir

Students in Grades 4-6 who learn a musical instrument have the opportunity to join a multi-instrumental group which operates under the guidance of a conductor.

The school has two choirs coordinated by our choir director. These choirs provide an opportunity for interested students to extend their vocal talents as well as hone their skills singing harmonies and round in a massed ensemble.

Both ensembles rehearse outside of classroom hours once a week. They perform at school assemblies and local festivals held throughout the year.
